The Finnish language belongs to the Baltic Finnic branch of the Finno-Ugic languages, which are one of the two subfamilies of Uralic. The language is closely related to the Estonian language. Along with Swedish, Finnish is one of the two official languages in Finland. There are approximately 6 million speakers of Finnish. As a Finno-Ugric language, Finnish differs significantly from the Indo-European languages, which include the majority of languages spoken in Europe. The Finnish alphabet consists of 29 letters based on the Latin alphabet. There are also three special characters å, ä and ö . These three special letters are at the end of the alphabet: a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z, å, ä, ö.
